Note for teens under 18. Drivers working toward a Junior driver license (Class DJ) or Junior motorcycle license (Class MJ) cannot take the 5 hour pre-licensing course online in New York. State law requires teens to complete the course in person or through a high school driver education program.
The MV-278 and MV-285 certificates look similar but they are not the same thing.

Most NYC adults choose the MV-278 because it is faster, cheaper, and available the same day. If you already hold an MV-285 from your school, you do not need to take this course.
