What we can do for you

One flat price per service. The DMV's own road test fee goes to the state with your license application, so it isn't part of our price.

Three steps to your license

1

Take the 5-hour class

No MV-278, no road test. You need this certificate before any test date can be booked.

2

Get your date

Choose a site, then Standard or Rush. You'll get your date and time by text or email.

3

Drive our car

Our car meets you at the site. You get a short warm-up drive first, then it's test time.

Find a test site near you

Live in Manhattan? You'll test in another borough. Manhattan has no road test sites, so everyone heads to Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx or Staten Island.

Brooklyn 6 sites

Brooklyn gives you six places to take your road test. They stretch from the Red Hook waterfront and Coney Island over to Canarsie and Starrett City.

Queens 12 sites

No borough has more options. Queens has twelve road test sites, from Astoria Heights and Whitestone in the north to Laurelton and Rosedale in the southeast.

The Bronx 3 sites

In the Bronx you can test at one of three sites: Havemeyer Avenue, Riverdale or Strang Avenue.

Staten Island 6 sites

Staten Island has six road test sites. You'll find them all over the island, from Mariners Harbor in the north to Woodrow in the south.

Your test-day checklist

⏰ Get there 30 minutes early. Using our car? Make it 60 minutes, so you have time to warm up.

Questions about the road test

Can I book my road test while I'm still taking the 5-hour class?

Not yet. In New York, you need your MV-278 certificate from the 5-hour class before a road test can be scheduled. Finish the class, then come back to book.

How long until I can test?

With Standard, most people wait about 5-9 weeks. With Rush, we search for the soonest openings, and the wait is usually 1-3 weeks. The site you pick makes a difference.

What if I don't have a car?

You can use ours. It's fully insured, ready for the DMV, and waiting at your test site. You also get a short warm-up drive before you start.

Can I move my test date?

Yes. Just tell us at least 48 hours ahead and we'll help you find another date. There may be a fee for rescheduling.

Are you the DMV?

No. We're an independent private service. The NYS DMV runs the road test at its official sites, and any DMV fees are paid to the state.
